Mommy's Birthday

The 6th was my birthday. I turned 26. I can not believe how quickly time has gone. Within the last 5 years, I got married, went to Cuba, graduated college, started my Costco career, purchased a house and had a baby. This was my first birthday as a mother. It really didn't feel like a birthday, but I guess that is what happens as you get older. Birthdays now are not like birthdays when you were 6 or 14. I remember some of my birthdays. I had a Jungle Book party where we watched the movie and made ice cream sundaes. Another was a surprise party where Papi took me to G.I Joes to get a pocket knife while Mami was a home with everyone. But who could forget the shaving cream and waterballoon fight party. My birthdays from here on out won't be anything like before ... well ... MINE won't be, but Syrah's will be. But for now, all I need for my birthday is my husband and daughter (and 3 cats).

July 5th

On the 5th, we went to Abuelo's and Abuela's house. There Syrah played with Magnum, practiced her hammock skills for Puerto Rico, and played on the rocking horse. It was a perfect way to spend the evening since it was about 10 - 15 degrees cooler than our house. Tony and I really miss hanging out at my parents house like we used to when we were dating. It is always relaxing and pretty with all the trees.

Family Blog?

Hum ... it seems that this blog is titled incorrectly. Since Syrah was born, there has only been pictures of her. Well, too bad. She is much cuter than her parents :)

July 4th

The 4th of July weekend was busy. We didn't intend on it being busy, but I guess that is how life goes. Syrah loves to get into everything she can get her hands on. Besides getting into the pantry, she loves to pull all the DVD and video games off of the book shelf. On the 4th, we went to Nana's house. There Syrah and her cousin Noah played together ... well, sort of.

This girl is going to be running soon. She is way to interested in walking.

For Syrah's 1st 4th of July, she did exceptionally well during the fireworks. She slept through pretty much all of the booms until about 11:30 pm. At that point, I think it just got too hot for her AND a hug box of fireworks were set off.

These fireworks were something you would see on the Space Needle but right outside of our window. Since she was up, we let her watch the fireworks. She enjoyed it as much as a tired 7 1/2 month old would. She did like watching the bright lights. After a couple of minuets, I put her back to bed. It was much easier for Syrah to sleep, than myself.

The fireworks were too loud for me. The made me nervous because all the vegetation is dry.

Before, During, After

At almost 8 months, she still loves her baths. "My PJ's don't fit, but I can reach the window!"

Watermellon Cheeks

On June 27th, Syrah and I went to my cousin’s baby shower at Lake Meridian. To beat the heat, Syrah really enjoyed sucking on watermellon ... and playing with her leg.

Summer Pastime

While at the baby shower, Syrah also enjoyed a summer favorite. This was the first time Syrah was able to play in the lake, and she pretty much enjoyed it until she got too cold. The last photo has grown to be one of my favorite. Look at those chubby legs :)

Rare Syrah Attraction

Syrah has been crawling around for about a month now. We have pretty much let her go anywhere she wants and get into anything that she wants (with out supervision of course). Immediately after crawling, she found the stairs. We didn't think much of her standing at the bottom of the stairs because we figured she couldn't get up them yet. Well, we were wrong. While cooking, we let Syrah play where she wants. Normally she is in the pantry, but one day, we found her up 2 steps up on the stairs, working on her 3rd step. She wasn't the most graceful at climbing the stairs but that didn't bother her, she want to play with the cat. So, we finally had to get a baby gate. Syrah loves the baby gate because she can pull herself up easily. I guess she loved the zoo so much that she decided to make herself an attraction that people can visit. All that is missing is a sign saying "OK to feed, she doesn't bit yet (no teeth)."

Who Am I?

I am brown and white with a little red,
And I have two knobs on the top of my head.
My neck is long, I am very tall,
But I don't have very much voice at all.
I have one big ear on each side of my head.
High up in the air is where I am fed. I walk right up to the tallest tree,
and I eat the leaves that are good for me.
Who am I?

I AM A GIRAFFE!!!

Ok, I may be pink and white,
But I am quite the sight.
With two knobs on the top of my head,
I am washed and ready for bed.
I may not be as tall as a baby giraffe,
but I am as tall as mommy (ok, maybe less than half).
