Autumn Love

CONGRATULATIONS CAROLYN & STEVE!!!!!!!!!!

My friend Cari got married this last weekend to her now husband Steve.  They have been together for about 5 years now and decided that it was time.  It was a beautiful autumn day after Friday's rain showers. They were married at the Bellevue Court House by the nicest female Judge I have met.  I haven't really met any other Judges, but she held the door open for us while Syrah slowly walked to the building, AND she didn't mind our busy daughter walking around in the court room and playing at the witness stand. That is 'nice' in my book.

After the ceremony, everyone met my parents and Scott (another friend of Cari and Steve's) at our home for a small lunch reception.  I loved it because we had a relaxing place to visit and I got to decorate the table for them.  Carolyn always wanted to get married in October and have a masquerade, so I chose the theme properly.

PS - Syrah also started to use a fork and color on coloring pages this day :)

Pumpkin Patch Pizzazz

We were invited to go to a pumpkin patch in Orting with Chris, Lindsay, Sammy and Levi and let me tell you, we had a lot much fun!  There were many activities for us to do.

Syrah enjoyed every minute we were there. We played on a giant mound of woodchips with toy cars. Syrah wanted so much for her toy to move, but she hasn’t quite learned that not all toys go up and down, some go back and forth.  It will be easier next year when she picks up her feet.

After getting dirty there, we walked the cornfield maze. While following the story of the gingerbread man and the wolf crossing the river, we made a few stops along the way to play with the trains … and to munch on a squash.

The wolf said, "The water is too deep. Jump on my back and I'll carrying you accross..."

26 years old and I can STILL Hula-Hoop! At 11 months, so can Syrah.

We found our pumpkin, now we just need to figure out how to take it home...

So this is how candy corn gets it's corn ...

Ok, I guess we will take THIS pumpkin home.

Whats new?

Well, I haven't posted anything since Layla was born. There hasn't been much going on in our lives. Tony is recovering perfectly from his appendectomy earlier this month. He still has his moments (usually when Syrah steps on one of his incisions), but other than a little discomfort here and there, he is good to go. I can't believe that is has been 3 weeks since his ordeal. Those weeks went by so quickly. Taking care of Syrah full time, trying to get ready for upcoming parties, trying to keep the place clean, and keeping Tony's stress level down is A LOT of work. Needless to say, I am not sure if I passed with flying colors … but I think I passed.

Syrah is doing great as well. Everyday she is showing us her personality and her will to get our attention and run around. Gotta love toddlers! While at Church yesterday, I had the privilege of change Syrah’s diaper in the Mother’s room. As 2 other mothers nursed their babies, they watch the spectacle that was playing out on the floor (I gave up on using the changing tables in some places because Syrah will jump off).
As the ‘fight’ continued for what seems like hours, the nursing mothers couldn’t tell who was going to win; was it going to be the mother who had to pin down her daughters legs to get the diaper off, or was it the daughter who is quick enough to jump up and run through the bathroom while her mother was disposing of her wet diaper. It was a nail-biting finish. I am just glad she didn’t scream and cry like she tends to do.
One of the mothers asked me her age and proceeded to say “oh, she isn’t even a year yet!” Yep, she’s my little 9 month old toddler, what can I say. She is too busy and active to be with me during Sunday School, but she is too busy (and young) to go into the nursery.
I am doing fine. I have been busy getting ready for 3 parties over 3 weekends. One is completed and 2 more are shortly following. I am very excited. I will be hosting my first Boo-tastic Treat, this year suitable named Baby Boo-tastic Treat. I will have 6 babies (under 12 months), and 2 toddlers (all with mothers) over for a Halloween party. This will give all the mothers that I know closely that have had babies in the last year a chance to dress their little ones up for a baby party.

Other than that, we are all getting ready for Syrah to turn a year old. I can’t believe that the day is almost here. The year goes by so quickly, especially when our days are packed as they are.
